3 Things to Know Before Your First Class
Working out in general is intimidating - especially starting something new! Here are 3 things I wish I knew before my first class.
You don’t need to be flexible, strong, or anything else to get started!
Start where you are. Pilates and yoga are meant to work WITH your body. No body is the same. Even one person’s body goes through many changes throughout their life. Both pilates and yoga offer countless ways to modify exercises. This allows you to stay with the integrity of the move, while staying with where your body is in that moment. This means not looking to your neighbor or thinking about where you should be or were before. It’s about you in the moment. Creating the mind body connection will help you to stay within this awareness- both on and off the mat. Allowing you to be fully focused on you.
Wear comfortable clothes and something that wont be a distraction from feeling your body.
Consistency is key.
Change doesn’t happen overnight. To see and feel results, find what works for you to stay consistent. Whether that means 10 minutes daily or 30 minutes 3 times a week. I started to really see the impact when I would be in my day to day life and engaging my muscles in ways that I had trained in class. I not only felt better by “properly” moving throughout my day, I also felt eager to get back to this routine that was making me feel great.
What to wear.
Wear comfortable clothes and something that wont be a distraction from feeling your body.
